Indy Amp Program

The Indy Affordable Modification Program (IndyAMP) allows homeowners negatively affected by COVID-19 to refinance mortgage debt at a below-market interest rate for up to 30-years. IndyAMP allows owners to remain in their homes, become current with their mortgages, and lower their monthly payment. Learn more and/or apply here.

LATINAS WELDING GUILD

The Latinas Welding Guild is a need-based program focused on creating barrier-free education and advancement of women in what is often a male-dominated field. They offer partial or full income-based scholarships for all our classes with no prerequisites and work with women on a case-by-case basis. They are looking for women who want to start up a business, enter the workforce, learn the skill to be a welding force in our community, or join our organization. They connect eligible participants with potential employers, teach interview skills, partner with industry-related professionals, take field trips, and collaborate with other organizations that focus on health and wellness. MODERN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

PROJECT AZUL

Project Azul believes in the power of jobs to improve the lives of people. Project Azul leverages a robust network of education, community, and employer partners to serve participants. They support participants as they receive a job-ready credentials and place them in careers in fast-growing employment sectors. Through this preparation and training, participants are able to achieve a better quality of life for themselves and their families by earning living-wages and opening doors to opportunity. Southeast Community Services (SECS)

SECS offers employment and career coaching. Employment coaching can focus on earning a certificate in a new field, learning basic computer skills, finding a job (regardless of criminal background), or finding a better job. To learn more click here.

WORKONE INDY

WorkOne Indy hosts in-person Wednesdays @ WorkOne hiring events. Each Wednesday from 10:00am to 1:00pm EST, ten local hiring employers will be present to meet one-on-one with job seekers. For more information, click here.

Energy/Utilities/Housing/Other Supports

Indiana Homeowner Assistance Fund 

The Indiana Homeowner Assistance Fund (IHAF) program can provide assistance with the mortgage payments, property taxes, homeowners insurance and homeowner/condominium fees of eligible Hoosiers. Applications are being accepted through 877gethope.org.


As of January 13th, 2023, the IHAF program cap has been raised from $35,000 to $50,000. This means that more Hoosiers, including those who were previously denied because the amount of assistance needed exceeded the program cap of $35,000 per household, may now be eligible for IHAF assistance. All denied IHAF applicants are eligible to reapply for assistance one time and can do so by logging in to the application portal here. To receive assistance, applicants must still meet all other eligibility and underwriting requirements and payment information must be validated by the mortgage servicer or lender.

Energy Assistance Programs 

Reminder that AES Indiana (power) and Citizens Energy Group (gas, water and wastewater) understand that utility bills during the winter months can be a financial challenge for customers. If you are concerned with paying your bills, there are federal and local assistance programs available to help. Learn more here.

Dollar Energy Fund

Dollar Energy Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for households experiencing hardships by providing utility assistance and other services that lead to self-sufficiency. Learn more here.

UNITED WAY WINTER ASSISTANCE FUND

United Way of Central Indiana's Winter Assistance Fund helps ensure hardworking families who need energy assistance the most can afford the increased costs of utility bills during the coldest winter months.

The program, which runs from November through May, is targeted to help Indianapolis residents who struggle to afford increased utility costs but don’t qualify for the government’s Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. Click here to learn more.

NEW VISION MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH FOOD PANTRY

New Vision hosts a food pantry every third Thursday from 12-2. New Vision is located at 4501 Fletcher Avenue.

SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY SERVICES (SECS)

Health and Legal

INDIANA UNIVERSITY STUDENT OUTREACH CLINIC

The Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic is a free, student-run clinic that provides primary care-based medical, dental, social and legal services for the uninsured and underserved in the Indianapolis community.

The Clinic is open on Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm at the Neighborhood Fellowship Church on a first come, first serve basis. All services are available during this time with the exception of dental services. Learn more here.

HATE CRIMES HOTLINE AVAILABLE

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears is combating hate in Indianapolis through the launch of the office’s new non-emergent hate crimes hotline. The Marion County Hate Crimes Hotline can be reached at 317-327-5314 and provides a reporting mechanism for individuals who believe they have experienced or witnessed a potential bias-motivated crime.

The Marion County Hate Crimes Hotline is monitored by a trained Social Worker and Victim Advocate employed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Once a report is recorded, the victim can choose to file a formal report with the local law enforcement agency or be referred to an identity-based community service provider for trauma counseling and other assistance. This is a non-emergent hotline, and all emergencies or immediate threats should be reported to 911.

LISC CREATIVE PLACEMAKING TOOLKIT

Local government officials and cultural leaders like you are increasingly embracing creative placemaking as a tool to strengthen communities. CREATING PLACES GRANTS

CreatINg Places is a collaborative effort between the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and Patronicity. As a place-based crowd-granting program, CreatINg Places empowers the public - residents, businesses and community organizations - to play a role in achieving community improvements and building community pride.

Projects that meet crowdfunding goals can receive a matching grant for between $5,000 and $50,000. Learn more here
