POSITION: Nonprofit Operations & Administration Assistant
COMPENSATION: $18/hour
SCHEDULE: Part-time, 16–24 hours per week (2–3 days per week)
LOCATION: In-person

Southeast Neighborhood Development (SEND) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community development corporation whose mission is to advocate for housing, economic, and social equity by working with residents, business owners, and community partners to create and maintain inclusive, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods in Southeast Indianapolis.

POSITION SUMMARY

SEND is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Nonprofit Operations & Administration Assistant to support day-to-day office operations and provide administrative assistance to the SEND President, staff, and committees. This role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit operations, organizational management, and community-based work who enjoys keeping systems running smoothly and supporting both staff and neighbors.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, organizing paper and digital records, and maintaining office systems

  • Answer phones, monitor voicemail, and route calls appropriately

  • Maintain shared email inboxes and assist with internal communications

  • Support the SEND President with scheduling, calendar coordination, and office management needs

  • Assist with board meeting preparation, materials, and logistics

  • Welcome neighbors and connect them to SEND programs and community partner resources

  • Assist with donor management and data organization

  • Support event planning, coordination, and day-of logistics

  • Provide administrative support to staff and committees as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates are organized, dependable, and community-oriented, with strong communication skills and attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) is preferred. Candidates should be able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and travel locally with their own transportation. High school diploma or equivalent required.
