Southeast Neighborhood Development (SEND) is a 501c3 non-profit community development whose mission is to advocate for housing, economic, and social equity by working with residents, business owners, and community partners to create and maintain inclusive, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods in Southeast Indy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
SEND `seeks a qualified candidate to serve as the organization’s Marketing/Development Intern. The Marketing/Development Intern will work collaboratively with SEND staff and volunteers to advance SEND’s social media, marketing, and development strategies, with special emphasis on SEND’s social media, quarterly newsletter, volunteer engagement and event planning for the Fountain Square Plaza, a public space SEND owns in the heart of Fountain Square.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Participation:
Regular reporting on projects to staff and the Marketing and Development committee, including attendance (when possible) at staff meetings, monthly Marketing and Development committee meetings, and support at other evening and weekend hours for both in person and online events as requested.
Comprehension of SEND’s mission, vision, and values, along with branding, target stakeholders, and all other aspects of services and programs.
Regular participation in brainstorming sessions for the development of marketing campaigns, taking detailed notes during meetings
Donor Stewardship & Email Marketing
Assist in managing and updating SEND’s donor database and donor relationship management system (Bloomerang)
Arrange, develop content for, and publish the quarterly newsletter
Social Media
Working with SEND’s Marketing Consultant, develop SEND’s social media strategies and content calendar
Event Management
Manage events at the Fountain Square Plaza, including marketing the plaza as an event space, reviewing applications, and serving as point of contact for all events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Preference given to bilingual candidates with experience and/or undergraduate studies in marketing, communications, and development. Must have experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media Platforms, and online design applications such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc. This candidate will need to be a hard worker, able to juggle a variety of projects at the same time, and work independently as well as within a team environment.
