One of SEND’s most important missions is developing and improving affordable housing options for low- and middle-income families. Our home repair programs help eligible residents receive necessary repairs to their homes for little or no cost. We work to expand rental options, help businesspeople learn to become good landlords, and help tenants work toward buying their own homes. We also purchase and renovate neighborhood homes to create more affordable housing.

While we don’t deal directly with foreclosure prevention, we do attempt to educate owners, buyers and renters about issues like maintaining good credit. We also make referral to agencies such as the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, the Legal Aid Society, and Momentive Credit Counseling, when appropriate.
